What is INUSpheresis® therapeutic apheresis?
INUSpheresis® is a completely new patented medical procedure and represents a drastic evolution of therapeutic apheresis. It is a high-tech technique, unique in the world, that is carried out by means of an extracorporeal circulation circuit in which a blood purification is carried out by means of which the pathogenic components that cause a disease or its clinical manifestations are extracted and eliminated.
It requires a special team, unique in the market, a specially trained team and adequate facilities for the correct execution of the procedure.
It is a very effective treatment, with a high degree of tolerance and extensively tested through a multitude of clinical studies in a large number of chronic pathologies and even for preventive purposes.
INUSpheresis® is not a plasma exchange (plasmapheresis) and does not have the side effects produced by this procedure. It is not a dialysis, either. This technique filters and removes accumulated harmful substances, not electrolytes or other healthy and necessary components.
What substances do we eliminate when performing INUSpheresis®?
In INUSpheresis®, a double plasma filtration is performed using a filter with an intelligent membrane that allows us to eliminate:
• Cytokines and inflammatory proteins
• Defective proteins that damage cells, organs and tissues
• Excess of immune complexes and immunoglobulins in allergies and autoimmune diseases
• Mycotoxins
• Heavy metals
• Chemical products of all kinds (pesticides, plastics, solvents, etc.)
• Excess cholesterol (in familial hypercholesterolaemia)
• Virus remnants and fractions
As a result of the INUSpheresis® procedure, an eluate (filtered liquid) is obtained that contains all the substances that have been removed from the patient’s blood and their cells and tissues.

How INUSpheresis® therapeutic apheresis is performed
INUSpheresis® requires a specific technology and is therefore performed in our Day Hospital in a room specially equipped for this purpose.
Before treatment
A few days before the execution of the treatment, the patient is told clearly and understandably what it consists of, the benefits, the possible side effects and/or contraindications, all of which are reflected in the Informed Consent.
For the programming of an INUSpheresis® treatment cycle, prior analytical tests are necessary for our Medical Director to program the specific protocol for each patient with the parameters and rules to be followed by the technical team.
It is necessary, both the day before and the day of treatment, for the patient to eat and drink plenty of water in order to facilitate the proper execution of the technique.
Days of treatment
An INUSpheresis® cycle consists of 2 consecutive sessions, 48 hours apart from each other, and in the middle day various techniques of mobilisation of toxins are performed, by means of specific intravenous sera and body hyperthermia of medium intensity (38ºC). Between the first and second sessions, there is a phenomenon of osmosis, a migration of harmful substances from the tissues and cells to the patient’s blood, also enhanced by serums and hyperthermia. In this way, a very high level of harmful and toxic components is filtered, which usually produces a significant improvement in the patient’s symptoms.
The procedure lasts between 2 and 3 hours and at all times the patient is accompanied by our specialised health personnel who perform the procedure individually for each patient.
After treatment, the patient can return home and even travel, although driving is not recommended.
For which pathologies is INUSpheresis® indicated?
The toxic load we are subjected to through food, groundwater, air pollution and all the chemical products we are in daily contact with, put us in constant danger. Depending on their genetic load, some people have particular difficulty in combating this high toxicity that we accumulate throughout our lives and this can damage our functional systems. Unfortunately, it is not so easy for the body to get rid of these toxins, as they tend to bind to cells and organs.
The benefits of INUSpheresis® are evident, especially with the great surge in growth of chronic and environmental diseases in our environment. The list of pathologies for which INUSpheresis® is indicated is very extensive. Why is INUSpheresis® a treatment of choice in any chronic pathology?

In what type of installations is the treatment of INUSpheresis® performed?
At Biosalud Day Hospital we have an INUSpheresis® room specifically equipped for the optimal execution of this technique. The patient lies on a very comfortable special electric table. Throughout the session the patient is monitored, with pulse, ECG, blood pressure, oximetry, etc. Both ulnar veins are normally channelled, to create the output and input circuit. The patient is with our staff all the time. Once treatment is started, there is no discomfort; there are even patients who fall asleep.
Why is an eluate analysis performed?
The analysis of the eluate shows us all the eliminated substances that were maintaining the chronic symptomatology and preventing a good response to the treatments prescribed until then. The eluate clearly shows the relationship between the pathology and symptoms of the patient and the specific accumulation of certain harmful substances when compared with the analyses performed on the patient before treatment.
Are INUSpheresis® and therapeutic apheresis the same?
INUSpheresis® is the technological evolution of therapeutic apheresis; it is patented and is only performed in authorised centres that receive training provided by the owner of the patent. It filters much more completely than apheresis, harmful protein substances, but in addition, only INUSpheresis® has the (also patented) filter with intelligent membranes that in turn allows filtration of all types of toxic substances; thus, it is called an environmental filter.
INUSpheresis® is not a dialysis! The procedure does not remove substances that are specifically urine-producing substances, but eliminates a large number of stressors. INUSpheresis® uses special filters that are capable of eliminating pathogenic autoimmune antibodies, inflammation mediators, environmental toxins, viral particles, etc. from the body.
INUS has scientifically developed INUSpheresis® from the proven therapeutic apheresis procedure to purify the blood through a long scientific and technological journey started in 2002, such as Environmental Apheresis, to eliminate toxins and chronic inflammation of the organism very quickly and normally without any side effects.
So what are the differences between therapeutic apheresis and dialysis?
Both apheresis and dialysis are procedures that remove certain components of the blood through an extracorporeal circulation system, but their purposes are completely different.
In apheresis, only some inflammatory and immune complex substances are filtered, while a dialysis machine uses a process known as haemodialysis. It is a treatment that involves removing harmful or toxic substances from the blood and salts that are retained due to kidney failure.
Unlike dialysis, the technique of therapeutic apheresis does not replace renal functions.
